Small-world syndrome and nerdcore
What are the odds that, in a city of nearly 800,000 people that I've lived in for only a few months, I would randomly run into 2 different people from the 5-person Linux-UI team, in 2 different restaurants in completely different parts of the city, in 2 subsequent days...? And yet that's just what happened this weekend!

Last night I went to a nerdcore show featuring MC Lars (a Stanford alumnus), MC Frontalot (the godfather of nerdcore) and Optimus Rhyme. Lars accompanied his set with a video projection that depicted, at one point, his own songs being bittorrented! He had some satirical jabs for mainstream hip-hop's materialism and the music industry's general suckiness. Frontalot actually rolled a 20-sided die to decide which songs he would play for his set!

I am incredibly jealous that you got to see these guys live. I've been listening to them to the exclusion of most other things for months now.

Questions:

Optimus Rhyme:
Does Wheely circular breath when he raps? They are supposed to be incredible live.
Any new songs/album announcements?

MC Lars:
Any news about his podcast?

Frontalot:
What songs from the new album did he do? I've only heard Secrets from the Future so far.

Did Beefy open for this show? If so how was he?

Well, it was you who told me about them in the first place.

I couldn't tell if Wheely was breathing circularly when he rapped but it wouldn't be surprising if he did because he certainly didn't get out of breath by the end of a pretty intense performance. He did attempt some beatboxing when he first walked onstage but then joked that he couldn't really pull it off. I don't recall any new announcements.

I don't think MC Lars mentioned his podcast (but he does have a blog about it that MC Frontalot thinks is "charming and informative").

Frontalot did Bizarro Genius Baby, Origin of Species and I Hate Your Blog, all as part of a spoof RPG (hence the die-rolling).

The opening act was K.Flay. You should check her out - she's pretty cool.

Given that there is an extremely strong selection bias in the 2 people you ran into, the odds are probably pretty good :P
